Line Failure Localization of Power Networks Part II: Cut Set Outages

چکیده
Transmission line failure in power systems prop-agate non-locally, making the control of resulting outages extremely difficult. In Part II this paper, we continue study localizability transmission networks and characterize impact cut set outages. We establish a Simple Path Criterion, showing that propagation pattern due to bridge outages, special case failures, are fully determined by positions network buses participate load balancing. then extend our results general contrast non-cut discussed I whose subsequent failures contained within original blocks, typically whole network, affecting flows on all remaining lines. corroborate analytical both parts using IEEE 118-bus test system, which patterns exhibit clear block-diagonal structure predicted theory, even when full AC flow equations.

Fundamental Limits of Wideband Localization - Part II: Cooperative Networks
The availability of position information is of great importance in many commercial, governmental, and military applications. Localization is commonly accomplished through the use of radio communication between mobile devices (agents) and fixed infrastructure (anchors). However, precise determination of agent positions is a challenging task, especially in harsh environments due to radio blockage...
متن کاملApplication of cut set method to reliability evaluation of mine ventilation networks
Providing a fresh and cool airflow in underground mines is one of the main concerns during mining. Destruction of support systems, the presence of undesirable objects in the airway and distortion of airflow are the parameters involved that would result in pressure loss, which would affect the ventilation network. There are a lot of research works about the ventilation network planning that cons...
متن کاملUsing Neural Networks to Detect Line Outages from PMU Data
We propose an approach based on neural networks and the AC power flow equations to identify singleand doubleline outages in a power grid using the information from phasor measurement unit sensors (PMUs). Rather than inferring the outage from the sensor data by inverting the physical model, our approach uses the AC model to simulate sensor responses to all outages of interest under multiple dema...
متن کاملUnderwater Electromagnetic Sensor Networks, Part II: Localization and Network Simulations
In the first part of the paper, we modeled and characterized the underwater radio channel in shallowwaters. In the second part,we analyze the application requirements for an underwaterwireless sensor network (U-WSN) operating in the same environment and perform detailed simulations. We consider two localization applications, namely self-localization and navigation aid, and propose algorithms th...
متن کاملPower outages, power externalities, and baby booms.
Determining whether power outages have significant fertility effects is an important policy question in developing countries, where blackouts are common and modern forms of family planning are scarce. Using birth records from Zanzibar, this study shows that a month-long blackout in 2008 caused a significant increase in the number of births 8 to 10 months later. The increase was similar across v...
